King Gesar Lion Dragon Palace Cultural Preservation Center — Appointed Lead Director (总导演), inaugural documentary production
Zekai Zhang is a New York-based filmmaker whose work moves between documentary and narrative forms — drawn to places where philosophy becomes visible, where ancient tradition meets contemporary life.
His current project is the first documentary on the living oral epic tradition of King Gesar — the longest epic in human literary history — directed from within the culture. He is the founding director of Chan-Chan Foundation, a New York nonprofit dedicated to contemplative practice, oral history, and cultural transmission.
He works in English and Mandarin. His films have been recognized at WorldFest-Houston and the Seattle International Film Festival.
